%X The high biological diversity and landscape heterogeneity of the tropical savannas reflect a highdiversity of the potential anthropic uses of these territories. Despite the milestone of the highest diversitysavanna in the world, the Cerrado lacks of systemic studies about the geomorphological features and theanthropic occupation. In order to evaluate this relation, the present work aimed to integrate the TerraclassCerrado anthropic occupation in the context of the geomorphological unities of the Maranhão River Basin. Thegeomorphological unities were mapped with Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) 30 meters spatialresolution dataset. The TerraClass Cerrado map (http://www.dpi.inpe.br/tccerrado/) was the anthropicoccupation map that was evaluated regarding the geomorphological unities. There were characterized sixgeomorphological units from steeper terrain to the plateaus with a flatter surface. The plateaus and colluviumramps had at least 55% cover of their surface covered by the anthropic occupation, in special the pasture. Thefront of erosive retreat maintained the about 88% of natural cover owing to the steeper relief. This workevidenced that the flat the terrain, the greater the human occupation. This approach highlights thegeomorphological features as the boundaries to the environmental evaluation within the integrated naturalresource management as subsidy for land planning public policies.
